File Storage

With the “file storage” feature it is possible to store any files (up to a certain size, see note below) in measuring points, folders, devices as well as single device channels. For example, it may be useful to have the data sheet or manual of a device integrated in Sedrix “at hand” in Sedrix in this way.

This does not usually concern files containing (manually or otherwise recorded) measurement data, because such files are typically stored in a document measuring point.

The procedure for the different storage locations is essentially always the same:

• To store a new file

  1. First open the view of the respective location and then scroll to the “Files” section.

  2. Click on the

     

     button in the upper right corner.

  3. Click on “Select files…” in the dialog window that opens and select the desired file on the local computer in the file dialog.

  4. Click “Import” to import the selected file.

• You can simply delete an existing file by clicking on the “waste bin” icon and responding to the security prompt (or canceling it).
  
  

Important: Only one file at a time may be selected for upload. The file size is limited to 5 megabytes.

In detail:

Store a file in a measuring point

Files can be stored at measuring points of all types in the way described here (except document measuring points, of course, see above).

1. Open the measuring point view of the measuring point (via the project tree, or click in the “measuring points” tab of the corresponding folder view) where a file is to be stored.

2. In this view, scroll down to the “Files” section.

3. Start the upload process by clicking on the

   

   button.

4. In the dialog that opens, select the file that you wish to upload (see above).

Store a file in a folder

1. Open the folder view of the folder (via the project tree, or click in the “folder” tab of the corresponding folder view) where you want to store a file.

2. In this view, scroll down to the “Files” section.

3. Start the upload process by clicking on the

   

   button.

4. In the dialog that opens, select the file you want to upload (see above).

Store a file in a device

Files can be stored in logger and tachymeter devices.

1. Open the device overview.

2. Click on the name of the device where you wish to store a file.

3. Scroll down to the “Files” section in the view that opens.

4. Start the upload process by clicking on the

   

   button.

5. In the dialog that opens, select the file that you wish to upload (see above).

Store a file in a device channel

Files can be stored in a device channel of a logger device.

1. Open the device overview.

2. Click on the name of the desired device.

3. In the device view, click on the name of the channel where a file is to be stored in the (Device) “Channels” section.

4. Scroll down to the “Files” section in the device channel view.

5. Start the upload process by clicking on the

   

   button.

6. In the dialog that opens, select the file that you wish to upload (see above).
